Wondering how to make pizza at home, or need a good pizza dough recipe? Here we go. Using the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day dough as a base, we create some super great and fun pizzas here. You're best off with a bread - pizza stone to make these.

This pizza dough recipe is adapted from Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day, see their site for info on buying their great books.
This works best with a clear 6 quart plastic container with a lid that can be slightly ajar, not super tight on the top of the container.
Take 3 cups of warm water, add to it 2 packets of active yeast, 2 tablespoons of salt and 2 or 3 glugs of Olive Oil.
Add 6 cups of all purpose flour to this and allow to rise for a few hours.
When the dough has about doubled, put it in the fridge.
You can use the dough right away, but its best to leave it overnight in the fridge.
cut off a a hunk about 4" in diameter, and roll it into a ball, turning the outside into the inside as shown in the video.
lay out on a floured board and roll out to desired diameter.
bake on a preheated baking stone in a 500F oven until bubbly and crisp.

I make homemade pizza all the time. Last night after watching your podcast I tried adding caramelized onion instead of raw, and it tasted great! The next time you feel like trying something different, cover your dough with pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce, especially if you're adding chicken as a topping.

I like the pizza looked great . You may consider a cob oven look it up there easy and cheaper to make . they might be heavier though .

Eric your video has inspired me to take a risk making pizza - After two weeks of buying the pizza dough from the supermarket (yes I cheated) only to watch it bloom into a yeasty ball in the fridge, I swore tonight I would try it. New dough from the market, thinly sliced onions, pepperoni, and a hunk of marinated mozzraella I had in the freezer (a bread knife worked well in slicing frozen cheese!), and a schmear of Classico Spicy Tomato and Pesto sauce (again another cheat but I can be lazy) and the end result was a not bad at all pizza for a fraction of the price of pizzeria pizza. I need some practice on shaping the dough - mine came out more oval shaped with some weird angles, but still all in all - it's pretty damn good. My only complaint was the cornmeal embedded in the crust - next time I won't continue to shape the dough once it's on the peel. Oh and I wish I made two - it's all gone!

Hi came accross your video's tonight on youtube, which led me to the pizza video. I'm getting married in less than two weeks and will have a ton of family staying with us. On monday while it's just us, along with my sis, and her boyfriend,,,,,I think we will try your pizza idea instead of ordering in. Thank you for the inspiration. Now all I need to do is get my fiance to do is make me a peel like yours, and make my dough. If it turns out, i might send in some pics.

I love pizza, and homemade cheaper, tastier and healthier than takeout. My pizza stones kept breaking, and they are expensive. Finally, one day, I went to the basement where the former owner of our house had stashed leftover 1foot by 1 foot ceramic tiles from a bathroom remodel. I used one like a pizza stone, only I put the pizza on parchment paper first (makes cleanup super easy). It worked beautifully. And ceramic tiles are about $1 dollar each at the home center. Now I use them to bake bread too.
