Eric tells about Charlie Pup losing control of her back legs, full story here, and her visits to the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. Rick is a walking example of the success of modern medicine.
Rick had cataract surgery in one eye and will have the other done soon.
Charlie Pup had an MRI and x-rays to figure out what is causing her leg dysfunction.

We read two viewer mails. One from long time listener Kevin about maximizing the heat generated from the DIY maple syrup evaporator, and one from Jonathan about making the steam pan file cabinet maple syrup evaporator.

Hi Eric! Very much enjoy every podcast and this week's was especially interesting. A few years ago our golden retriever had a stroke. At the time, I had no idea dogs could have strokes! Like Charlie Pup his behind suddenly wouldn't work. His eyes looked askance. He just wasn't himself all of a sudden. The vet said he'd improve we just had to wait it out and he did mostly. We lost him about 3 years later due to unrelated heart issues at the age of 11 or so (he was a rescue so we were never sure of his exact age). I just wanted to say you're the only other person i know whose dog has suffered a stroke. It's not easy maneuvering a 70 pound dog until they get their strength back. Also, great news for Rick! Medical science is terrific! Looking forward to the next podcast.

Hey Eric, Was it Lyme related? Does ahe eat compost? Both can cause neuro signs. Was she put on antibiotics? Bloodwork done?
Eric
@Andrea She had a ton of work done at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. Yes, they did blood work. There wasn't a clear reason for the stroke, we are happy it was minor. thx!
Eric
@Myra Thanks for the note Myra, we had never dealt with a stroke in our dogs before either. She is getting better every day, have to help her on the stairs. thx! eric.
