I especially love cooking tv/blog and gardening tv/radio! Thought you might like this tip....try freezing your butter...then grate it with a grater into your flour...so you create that breadcrumb-like texture when making your pastry or dough. I learned this tip courtesy of Chef Michael Smith from Prince Edward Island.
PS...your tomato fresca penne has become a summer staple in my house! I'm planting extra oregano and basil just so I can make this dish more often lol.

Hi Eric and Mike!
While listening to the podcast, I was agreeing out loud with you about the planting seeds early and Jim kept coming in and asking who I was talking to. Oh, just you guys!
I planted a row of carrots, beets, and arugula in the beginning of March, just after the full moon. I covered the row with some plastic and have seen some carrot sprouts. Like you said, I have more than I need in the way of beet, carrot, arugula seeds, so if this little experiment doesn't work, it's ok. However, if the soil is really muddy, wait for a dry day to plant. Too much digging in the mud destroys the soil structure.
