hello,
i love watching your bee tv! i am planning to start my first hive next spring. i know you use a 10 frame hive, but do you know any thing about the 5 frame hives?
thank you!
Eric Gunnar Rochow
thx johanna,
5 frame hives are called Nucs, short for nucleus, they are meant for breeding queens, catching swarms, and other specialized uses.
if you want to have bees, you should get either a 10 frame hive or an 8 frame hive, either one should have a screened bottom board.
i'll be doing a post about what i think a beginning beekeeper should purchase.
thx, eric.

Eric,
thanks for the heads up on the info on Gorilla Glue. A lot of site mention that they use it with bees and that its food safe once it cures, but it seems like Titebond 3 is the safer waterproof glue option
Eric Gunnar Rochow
yeah, i am wary of the foam residue of polyurethane glues, the regular wood glue works for me. thanks for the note, eric.
