How to strip paint the green way, green paint stripping.

While working on our apartment, I learned this neat way to remove paint from doorknobs and other small stuff that doesn't use toxic chemicals. Its green paint stripping.
I would like to know if your paint stripping process can also be used on the old "original" doorknobs that happen to be wooden instead of metal? I have layers of paint as I purchased an old/existing home and they just covered the door hardware on END!!
Any help is appreciated!

Very cool idea! I was just wondering though if you're taking off old lead-based paint if that can ruin your crockpot for cooking food. Would one maybe have to use one of those plastic crock pot liners or something to protect it? Or should a chemical like that not stick around in the crock pot later?
